Sometimes, kids just don’t want to go to school. An estimated 10 percent of school-aged children fake an illness to get out of school. But do they succeed?

Pulling a fake vomit stunt is not going to win the school nurse over – it’s one of the oldest tricks in the book. Instead, fake a fever by drinking hot water before the nurse takes a temperature reading and breathing heavily into a pillow or coat in order to achieve a flustered look.

Playing sick isn’t just for kids, 52 percent of U.S. employees admit to falsely calling in sick to work. Why would adults do this? Sixty-two percent of employees lied because they felt stressed or needed a day off.
