The tiger mom parenting style has drawn more attention in the past few years, initiated by the publishing of “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother” by Amy Chua. This book describes the “traditional Chinese” style of parenting. It involves strict discipline and tough love. Tiger moms have received much criticism for their harsh treatment of their children.
Two years later, Kim Wong Keltner published “Tiger Babies Strike Back,” a view into the parenting style, from the child’s perspective. She describes the struggle she felt growing up, and the harmful effects of tiger moms.
